Grant Reviews
FEMA grants funds for disaster prevention, recovery, and emergency relief projects for eligible applicants on all levels.

OEI experts review applications and advise FEMA about which projects should receive funding. Our team evaluates if a proposal meets the requirements in fields such as disaster management, dam safety, and earthquake risk.
Damage Assessments
When there is a natural disaster OEI Engineers are sent to assesses the amount of damage and its impact. The information provided in a damage assessment is critical to FEMA and other organizations, so they know the level of support that is needed to send aid for emergency relief and the proper resources to recover from the disaster.
Flood map modernization
Certified floodplain managers at OEI work with FEMA to update and enhance flood maps. Flood maps show potential hazards and are an important tool when coordinating tasks among agencies. The current flood maps are outdated. Without current information about flood risk, it is difficult to plan infrastructure to mitigate potential danger.
