O’Brien Engineering, Inc. seeks Water Resources Engineer II to work in Carrollton, Texas to perform detailed calculations to determine numerous parameters pertaining to stream and watershed geometry, physical, soil-related, precipitation-related, foliage-related, land-use
related, and surfaced roughness and irregularity. Use detailed calculations to build a preliminary model in programs such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, etc. Research regulatory requirements and guiding analysis process in order to comply with regulatory requirements. Troubleshoot and correct models, which include performing model calibration and conducting sensitivity analyses. Analyze results of modeling. Design hydraulic structures, such as culverts, bridges, dams, etc., and maps floodplains using models. Prepare technical memos and reports based on the result of analysis and submit in support of applications for federal, state, and local permits. Communicate with client and regulatory authorities and other disciplines on the design team. Work on projects/matters of limited to moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) working under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE) for 24 months designing hydraulic structures such as culverts and bridges and hydrologic structures including detention ponds.
TRAVEL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Travel up to 10% within the DFW metroplex area once a month. Partial telecommuting permitted.
