West Texas VA Health Care System

O’Brien Engineering is excited to begin a new project with the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The VA requested our A/E services to develop a plan for the West Texas VA Health Care System to construct a new Community Living Center.

Community Living Centers, formerly known as VA Nursing Homes, provide extended care to veterans of all ages. There are more than 100 Community Living Centers across the United States. The mission of a Community Living Center is to restore each Veteran to his or her highest level of health, to prevent declines in health, or to provide end of life comfort.

The West Texas VA Health Care System is located in Big Springs, Texas. The current Community Living Center facility is part of the George H. O’Brien, Jr VAMC.

We will work with the West Texas VA Health Care System to develop, present, and implement a plant to construct a new building for the Community Living Center. The goal is to create an 8,500 square foot cottage that houses ten beds and includes family friendly visiting areas. This will replace beds currently located in the medical center’s main building. In addition to creating more space, it is very important to the VA to have the center feel as much like a home as possible. Residents will be able to decorate their space as well as have pets in some cases.

As a veteran owned and operated business, O’Brien Engineering is honored to use our leading architecture and engineering skills to provide other veterans with a first-rate facility and add another VA medical care facility to our valued network of clients. The continued patronage of the Texas VA is proof of our ability to provide federal sector clients with the expertise and quality that our reputation continues to show.
