We are looking for a full-time Fire Protection Engineer with the following experience and expertise:
- Code Appliance:
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local fire protection codes and regulations to ensure compliance in the design and construction of buildings and facilities.
- Understand and implement NFPA and IBC codes and regulations to recognize construction types, occupancy loads, and other relevant factors.
- System design:
- Design and develop fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke control systems, and other related systems.
- Conduct calculations, simulations, and analysis to determine the effectiveness of fire protection measures.
- Plan Review:
- Review architectural and engineering plans to assess fire protection features, identify potential hazards, and recommend necessary modifications for compliance.
- Life Safety Planning:
- Assist in the development and review of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and other measures to enhance life safety during fire incidents.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and project managers to integrate fire protection measures seamlessly into building designs and construction projects.
- Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and documentation related to fire protection systems and compliance efforts.
- Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure the installation and implementation of fire protection systems meet the approved plans and standards.
- Oversee and participate in testing and commissioning activities for fire protection systems.
- Risk Assessment:
- Perform risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Provide recommendations for the improvement of fire safety measures in existing buildings.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all fire protection engineering work complies with quality standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.
- Client Interaction:
- Communicate with clients, government officials, and project stakeholders to address inquiries, provide technical expertise, and ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Knowledge of NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes and IBC (International Building Codes)
- Experience working on federal projects and familiarity with federal regulations is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
